Banana FestivalThe memory of our History
The Banana Festival is a route for history and the memory detached from Africa, our universal mother. It is a pedagogical strategy that, through our connection with the banana, seeks to recognize, strengthen and make visible the historical memory, the cultural and natural diversity of ethnic peoples, Afro, black, Raizal and Palenquero; promoting and sharing their ancestral knowledge and their territorial spaces.

All participants in the “Banana Festival” must keep these criteria alive
1. Take care of the Spirit
2. Take care of the Seed
3. Take care of the Earth, Water, Air and Fire
4. Take care of the diverse Lives in the ecosystems to maintain the natural harmonic balance of our Mother Earth.
This pedagogical strategy is proposed biennially (every two years) starting in September 2021 with workshops, urambas and preparatory conversations; and later we will hold events every Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month of October in 5 territories of

Guajira
This first year will be held internally in Colombia with national and international broadcasts, and in later versions will be integrated into various cultures of the world. We will soon publish the detailed programming and agenda.
A space to share ancestral knowledge from different regions of Colombia where the banana is the common thread of these events. From each collective territorial experience we want to give the communities the necessary strength to allow us to dream and return to autonomy and sovereignty.
The banana was chosen as the articulating axis due to its importance and impact in the history of the African diaspora, gastronomy, ancestral medicine and as a raw material in various countries of the world and its connection with Africa.
